In a world of mass technology and struggling economies, it is critical that every nonprofit organization reaches out to the "long tail" of donors, the millions of people around the world who give small amounts to charity, that add up to billions of dollars.  One of the quickest and cost-effective ways to reach these potential donors, is through the use of Social Media:  Blogs, social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, YouTube videos and podcasts.
